Columbia Cake Smash
The Blankenship family has been one of my clients since day one. You have probably seen them in the Christmas mini session posts because they grab one every year! It’s so nice to have return clients because it makes me feel like I’m doing something right! haha. The Blankenship family asked me to do Dawson’s 1 year old cake smash session and it was wonderful! Tara is the kind of mom who plans, thinks ahead and makes every photo session something special. This time was no different.
When I walked up I could see from far away that someone was holding three GIANT silver balloons. As I walked closer I realized that was Tara! Tara always has good props so I should have known. The balloons were silver letters that spelled out the words ONE. They were so cute! Also, she had a blanket, a banner, a cake stand and the actual cake! She was on top of it! As we found our way over to the area we were going to shoot at we all began to unpack things. Tara was tying the weights on to the balloons, I was spreading out the blanket and getting some settings set on my camera and Brett had run back to the car to grab the birthday banner. All of the sudden Fin (their other little boy) said, “Mama, are those ours?” I looked up and saw two of the balloons floating away higher and higher into the sky! All Tara and I could do was laugh! She had the balloons under her knee while tying the weights to them and she must have moved a little and thats when they escaped! You will notice in the last picture there is only the “O” left. Although we couldn’t use the letter balloons in the shoot we still had a good time. Fin even helped eat the rest of the cake since Dawson didn’t seem to into it. I hope that you enjoy viewing some of my favorites from this Columbia Cake Smash session!
